1 Purpose and Scope
The Altiora Finance Department (“Department,” “we,” or “our”) is part of Altiora, a student-founded organization at the University of California, Santa Cruz (“UCSC”).
The Department exists solely to:
Provide financial-literacy education, research discussions, and market analysis for learning purposes.
Manage internal club budgeting, fundraising records, and reimbursements for Altiora events.
Facilitate simulations, case studies, and paper-trading activities for educational development.
We do not operate as a financial-services business, fund manager, or investment adviser.
2 Non-Affiliation Notice
Altiora and the Department are independent, student-run initiatives.
They are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the University of California, Santa Cruz, the Regents of the University of California, or any official university department.
3 Educational-Use Only
All content, presentations, spreadsheets, and communications produced by the Department are provided for educational and informational purposes only.
They are not intended as:
Investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice;
A solicitation or offer to buy, sell, or hold any security or digital asset; or
A recommendation tailored to any individual’s circumstances.
Members and readers are responsible for their own independent research and financial decisions.
4 Member Conduct
By participating in any Finance Department activity, you agree to:
Use shared information only for learning or internal club operations.
Respect confidentiality of any internal financial data or research material.
Avoid presenting Altiora or UCSC as endorsing any investment or product.
Comply with all university, state, and federal laws, including those governing securities and trading.
5 Internal Budgeting and Funds
Any funds managed by the Department are Altiora operational funds (e.g., event budgets, merchandise, or approved reimbursements).
No member contributions may be pooled for investment or trading on behalf of others.
All financial transactions must follow Altiora’s internal accounting policies and UCSC student-organization rules.
6 Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service and all related materials are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”
We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any purpose.
7 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Altiora, its founders, members, and volunteers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from:
Reliance on information shared by the Department;
Personal trading or financial actions taken by any participant; or
Errors, omissions, or delays in educational materials.
Total cumulative liability, if any, shall not exceed USD $100.
8 Intellectual Property
All materials, analyses, and tools created by the Department are property of Altiora or their respective authors.
Members may use these materials only for personal learning and internal club use unless written permission is granted.
9 Confidentiality
Certain documents (e.g., internal reports or partnership proposals) may be designated as confidential.
Members must not distribute such materials externally without written authorization from the Altiora executive board.
10 No Financial Accounts or Custody
The Department does not:
Maintain brokerage, crypto-exchange, or trading accounts for members;
Hold or transfer member funds; or
Execute transactions on behalf of any person.
All simulations are virtual or educational-only.
11 Termination of Access
We may suspend or remove access to Finance Department resources for violations of this TOS or any applicable laws or policies.
12 Changes to These Terms
We may update this TOS periodically. Revised versions will be dated and posted. Continued participation after an update constitutes acceptance.
13 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Santa Cruz County, California.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive data such as health, race, religion, or financial-account numbers.

We use data solely to:
Manage Altiora’s internal budgeting and reimbursements;
Coordinate finance-related workshops, simulations, and educational projects;
Analyze aggregated site-traffic trends;
Maintain security and compliance with university policies;

Service Providers (e.g., website hosting or analytics platforms) that are contractually bound to protect confidentiality;
Legal Compliance when required by law, regulation, or court order;
University Coordination if a verified UCSC office requests information to ensure compliance with student-organization policies.
